Eric Smith Dismissed From Team

Eric_smith_medium

Eric Smith's Auburn career has come to an end today for what has been described as a "Violation of team rules."

Eric's career has been up and down since Coach Chizik arrived at Auburn. We wish Eric the best of luck, and nothing but the best.

Bummer!

I had such high hopes for him too. I really thought he had the best hands of the H backs coming into the season, but the emergence of P Lutz dwindled his role to fullback. Best of luck eric. This was an opportunity truly squandered, but I hope you do learn from whatever happened and become a better man for it.

That really sucks....

I had very high regard and hopes for the young man…he is a helluva football player with great hands, a fantastic blocker, and not without ability carrying the rock between the tackles. Good luck Eric.

I don't troll so I reserve the right to berate trolls as I see fit.

Just so you know I won't forget.....LSU Jonno predicted we would finish 5th in the west in '11.

Good luck Eric

It had to be bad for him to be dismissed instead of suspended

I wish him well but some guys just don’t work out. I hope it is not career threatning.

I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves

I can't say I feel that bad on this one...

He’s had tons of chances and kept messing up no matter what happened. Therefore, I don’t think the coaching staff could’ve done much else.

It's Auburn against the world. Good luck world.

you might be right sparkey... who knows. sure there is much more to this story...

still, i think it would be easy to dismiss or downplay Eric Smith’s role in the AU lineup. key blocks all year long…

i too thought heading into 2010 that he would be developed as more of a weapon… it just didn’t happen. malzahn had an abundance of weapons, and as it was, eric was down the list a bit. he’s got talent…this is a big time bummer.

also, i think we lose an attitude with him… and i don’t mean that to sound like it is a good thing.

you do it and you wipe it up.

I wish him all the best.

I feel like his best shot to stay on the straight and narrow was to stay on the team, but, I have to respect that Coach Chizik made the best decision for the team…like he always does.

Over/Under

24 hours until it’s leaked that HBO has contacted Eric Smith for an interview…

I should have taken you on this...

Unfortunately, Mr. Smith had been arrested and charged with domestic abuse, strike three for him with Chizik.
Not a good story for HBO…
Jerry Springer now has a foot in the door though.

I want to make it clear...

I never had an issue with him as his role as a player. It was his role as a person that I didn’t like. He just couldn’t stay out of trouble. He consistently kept getting in major trouble, and this isn’t the first time he was arrested.

It's Auburn against the world. Good luck world.
