Cecil Newton on Tape?
The above link is a story from SB Nation.com that may or may not contain audio of Cecil Newton, father of former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, asking John Bond for money in a voice mail.
Here's part of the transcript:
"Hey John, this is C. Want to talk today about, uh ... not gonna be free. We got two offers now, and uh, $200,000 from Auburn. He wants to play here, so, uh, [softly, perhaps speaking to somebody else: "Shutup, we're all good," and something unclear] ... Listen, John, he really wants to go up there, so, uh, [unclear] over $150[,000] ... He needs to go for a fair price. I ain't just wanna give him to you as a free meal, you know? When you get this, uh, give me a call back."
As Jason Kirk says in the story, this could be a complete hoax. You be the judge.

this is so badly done, on so many levels.....
The sad part to all of this, somebody is going to swear it’s actually Cecil Newton, and hundreds, maybe even thousands of dumbasses are going to believe it as truth.

I agree...
It sounds fake to me. It’s making the rounds on the message boards, so I thought I’d at least throw it out there for you to be the judge.
If I had not been reading along
I would not have known what was being said. SOMEBODY is really stretching it with this. Whoever did this has reached an all time new low.
and to think i was a little worried about this tape
that is the biggest joke i’ve ever heard. What a bomb to drop on the Auburn program!
I'm an Auburn fan because I go to Auburn. You're a Bama fan because you went to Walmart.

OK, I am dense, where to I click to hear the audio?
I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves
I can't type...
a LOL big enough to get my point across.

"The spirit of the Auburn family is a magical, mystical thing. It defies explanation. It transcends wins and losses on a football field. It imprints itself on your character and can never be extinguished. Being an Auburn fan defines part of who and what you are..."

If you didn't get a big enough laugh out of the tape by itself
head on over to the TMZ of SBNation (RBR of course) and look at some of the comments our friends over in Tuscaloosa have to say regarding the recording. It’s laughable. Quite the Auburn gossip site they’ve got going over there, although for some reason I thought it was supposed to be a Bama blog…

It used to be a bama site...

Not wasting my time
with a visit to RBR. I know what they are saying without reading it. This recording is the biggest hoax yet in the bammer play book.
Even if it is Cecil, this is nothing new. He’s already admitted talking about money. And if Cecil is saying that Auburn is offering more money than MSU has offered, it only proves he’s trying to pressure the three ex-MSU players into offering more. Anybody who has bought or sold anything has heard, “Well, a guy stopped by earlier and said he’d pay what you’re offering plus $200 more.”
Agreed Panda
Just because somebody said it, don’t make it so. Bammers can’t stand it that we won a NC and they are doing every thing they can to get it pulled from us.
Also, these tapes increase the collusion factor of the ex-MSU players. It is clear, from the information one of them has provided, that negotiations are going on. That reflects on the boosters, and by extension MSU, just as much as Cecil.
Date and time of tape + when the “violation” was reported = MSU has some ’splainin to do.
This is silly.
Whatever is on those tapes, assuming that they are legit, which is at best, questionable, really digs the hole for MSU bigger and deeper.

Sounds like a glass house situation to me
Trust me, he is not very popular. I live in Huntsville and have never even heard of him until this. His AM radio station is between a seed store and a junk yard. Really! The spaciious station occupies approx. 1000 sq. feet (just guessing as to size), including the treadmill with the squirrels powering the transmitter. He is as small ltime as you can get and just trying to make a splash.
I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves
I haven't personally seen the treadmill but I am sure it is there.
I just hope they erect the Saban statue/altar/shrine before he leaves
Whatever
This is PROOF of SOMETHING BAD like FOR REALZ. HAHAHA
/sarcasm
If Cecil Newton is thick enough to leave this kind of message, odds are he would have been caught doing something else ever stoopider before now. Color me suspicious.
Old Cecil
sounds like he’s doing some pretty bad bluffing and/or po-mouthing.
Where was the Lorax when we really needed him?

So bad it's really not worth the time to dis it....
I don't troll so I reserve the right to berate trolls as I see fit.
Just so you know I won't forget.....LSU Jonno predicted we would finish 5th in the west in '11.
I posted this on Acid's article as well....
Strangest thing on twitter tonight…
John Bond’s attorney, in response to alleged Cecil Newton tape floating online: “The tape is not authentic. It is a fake.”
Never doubted it.
