Brian VanGorder Introduced as Auburn Defensive Cooordinator
Gene Chizik introduced his new Defensive Coordinator today in a 19 minute press conference at Auburn University. Atlanta Falcons DC, Brian VanGorder is the new man and his hiring has been praised by Auburn friends and foes alike.
Coach Chizik said he knew that VanGorder was the guy he wanted to hire from the day the job came open. He said he never went after anyone else but VanGorder. For his part VanGorder said he liked the discipline and organization of Coach Chizik; further that he and his family,
"Look forward to learning the Auburn ways and really, really digesting all the traditions. We look forward to meeting with the people that made the traditions great here. I certainly hope we can do everything to be a part of, improve and meet all the challenges that lie ahead of us."
The following video of the press conference is taken from You Tube via Auburn Undercover at 24/7. If a hard nose defensive coach is what you have been looking for ... then VanGorder fits the bill.

Anyone who can rock a 70’s pornstash with that kind of confidence has to be the answer for our defense. Schemes be damned.

Love the stash....
And this guy is a stud. Porn star or not.
Our defense I think will be feared. Like it used to be.
We should see the impact of him being on board in recruiting NOW.

All business
I would hate to be a defensive player who misses a tackle.
I expect to see lots of improvement on D next year.
Now that the statue/altar/shrine is up, is it in Sabans contract that he gets to take it with him when he leaves?
My thoughts exactly.
If he is that intimidating when happy, I’d hate to be nearby when he is pissed.
Maybe he will suit up at MLB.
Which ever player is playing MLB next season...
That person will know each and every detail of the defense before they get to start for BVG. More than likely, they adopt his personality on the field as well.

and the reason our jet was seen in Tallahassee...
We’re bringing our boy Dameyune Craig home as QB coach for our yet to be announced OC Rob Chudzinski (OC & TE)!!!
Here’s hoping at least.
Chudzinski seems to be linked to head coaching positions in the NFL…Rams (yikes!). But I like where your head’s at with Dameyune Craig :)

I think it is a little early for him to get a head coach job… I also don’t think he’d come to AU but it’d be nice even though I’m a Panthers fan, being from Charlotte.
Craig however, is gettable and supposedly a hell of a recruiter (he gets a lot of credit for FSU’s class last and this year) and good coach.

I was expecting him to sign off by saying...
I’m Ron Burgundy, you stay classy Auburn.

Two Things....
right before the presser, Van Gorder called out to the media horde….“Hey Everybody……Come see how good I look!!!”
I guess its a good thing Kristi Malzahn is no longer in town.
I love the smell of Auburn in the autumn.....it smells like....victory.
Looks like a great hire!
Congratulations and good luck!
