Hold Off on That Panic Button...

Malzahn and Roof can and will be replaced with very talented, hard working coordinators. There is no reason to think otherwise...for now. CGC has never given us a reason to not trust him and he has, in fact, proven many fans and critics wrong on more that one occasion.

We have all heard names swirling around, yet the reality is we must sit back and wait for the word to come straight from Jacobs or Chizik.

Some names have been more appealing than others, however many of us know little enough to be less than qualified to pass judgement on the hiring of an offensive and defensive coordinator. Remember how a great number of Auburn fans reacted to Jacobs' hiring of Gene Chizik.

Now a few years later we are wondering how we can play for a third national championship. Our ship is not sinking. The sky is not falling. We are simply experiencing some growing pains.

I am sure that at least one more Auburn commitment will change his mind before signing day; that's what 18 year olds do. But rest assured that there will be some pleasant surprises too between now and then.

So, for now just sit back, enjoy some NFL playoffs and know that we are indeed in good hands and that the right guys will be hired when the time is right.

Kerwin Bell is

the OC name i hear … what about Ron Zook for DC?

by Triumphant Tiger on Jan 7, 2012 10:28 PM CST reply actions

Well,

I think Zook is a nice thought. I am sure he will land on his feet in the league coachin special teams or db’s. Im not even sure he’d entertain an offer from Auburn. For some reason I just feel like Ron Cooper is still very much in play for Auburn. Hopefully we will know this week.
Kerwin Bell is a good thought as well. I am sure he has some type of relationship with Chizik since they were at florida at the same time. I wouldn’t mind him or Loeffler to be honest. Looking at some of bell’s season stats, his best year at JU the dolphins passed for around 2900 yards and ran for 2000ish. Im not sure that those numbers are what we would see at auburn, maybe just flip flop them.
We both know that you can’t please all the people all the time, and some will gripe no matter who is hired. I trust our current regime and will remain positive until I am proven wrong.

Stop with the Sky is Falling BS...

Those of us who aren’t happy with the lack of coordinators aren’t saying the sky is falling. Indeed, it’s not. However, it is hurting us and I don’t consider Chizik a perfect coach. I think he is capable of making coaching mistakes and the coordinator search has been his biggest mistake so far. That doesn’t mean I think Auburn is going to implode and that we’ll lose our program completely. In fact, I expect Auburn to win at least 9 games next season. I think that Chizik has done a great job I just think on this one thing he’s making a mistake.

It's Auburn against the world. Good luck world.

Well Sparkey, noone really said that YOU felt like the sky is falling in.

In fact, I don’t recall saying that anyone felt that way necessarily. It is merely noting how a great many may be feeling currently. I don’t consider CGC a perfect coach either. I am not sure how one would quantify that anyway. I am simply reminding folks that this situation is not as horrible as many are making it seem. From a recruiting standpoint, I think it does affect us a little. Let’s face it, we don’t need any help letting some other SEC schools take recruits out from under our noses. However, we are NOT the only SEC school looking for coordinators. In fact I have a sneaking suspicion that more SEC coordinators will be taking new positions after the NCG. Furthermore, as stated previously, I feel strongly that there will be some very pleasant surprises before signing day. Very kind of you to consider my post BS though.

I did not say your POST was BS...

I said can we stop with the sky is falling BS. Just because I disagree with the way Chizik is handling the recruiting situation does not mean that I think that the sky is falling. No, I don’t think your post is BS. I just am tired of people using that phrase on those of us who disagree with the way Chizik’s plan has gone so far.

It's Auburn against the world. Good luck world.

I see.

It is so easy to become frustrated right now. Hopefully we will get some much needed good news this week. War Eagle!

War Eagle to you...

Believe me when I say this, nobody wants Auburn to be great worse than I do. Nobody wants good news worse than I do right now. Phillip Lutzenkirchen staying for next season is great news in my mind. I guess our frustration is at a higher level with our biggest rival and one of our biggest rivals being in the championship game tonight. Not to mention, they’re both in our own division. So, this is a frustrating time for Auburn fans even if nothing but good news is coming to Auburn right now.

It's Auburn against the world. Good luck world.
