Tough To Say Good-Bye

By Jay Coulter
jccoulter@gmail.com

You’ve probably noticed that my postings have diminished in recent weeks. Work and home responsibilities continue to eat into my writing time.

Publishing Track’em Tigers is my favorite hobby. Some people like to golf; I love to write about Auburn football. Having a chance to meet and talk Auburn football with you has been awesome and something I will never forget.

Unfortunately, my work schedule in the coming months will make it near impossible to post on a daily basis. I could continue to do sporadic posts, but that wouldn’t be fair to all of you. It’s best that I hand the duties off to someone else.

Track’em Tigers is not going away. I’m working with the team at SB Nation to find someone to take over the daily posts.  In fact, if you are interested, let me know and I’ll pass your name on to them.

I want to thank my loyal readers who’ve commented and sent me emails over the past year. Many of you have become friends and that’s what it’s all about.

I also want to thank those of you who stop by daily to just read. You’re the backbone of this site.

Posts will probably continue to be sporadic in the coming weeks until someone can be found to take over as writer.  Make sure you keep the site bookmarked and check back frequently.

Things should be back in full swing in the coming weeks.

Thanks again for a great experience and War Eagle!

I know the feeling, Jay...

Life gets in the way of what's most important sometimes.  Of course, I'm talking about Auburn Football.  :)

Ever since my daughter was born and my job responsibilities grew, WarDamnTailgate has never been the same.

Hope to see you back in daily action soon.

Thanks Trey...

I appreciate your support... especially in the beginning... You gave me an audience and I appreciate it.

An important voice goes silent...

.....and I'm bummed. Who's going to say the hard things, when the administration needs to be criticized? I've always admired your ability, Jay, to be fair. If it's good, you'll say so, and heap on the praise. If it's not, you administer reasoned criticism. You're a read I'll sorely miss. Certainly no one would doubt your love of the Tigers!

.....I do understand being busy. That's one of the reasons I've never undertaken writing my own blog. You know, 50-hour work week, home schooling (which admittedly, I do less than 10% of...), and house/yard cleaning. And then there are things I love, that eat time, like guitar and keyboard playing, tennis, original Dungeons and Dragons, video games, watching TV/movies with the family and (my favorite!) cooking big expansive made-from-scratch meals. Not to mention copious internet surfing and comment-bombing...

.....You know what would be really cool? An independent, perceptive Auburn blogger (like Jay) that lives in Auburn, and has time to watch practices, and has insider connections. And who actually has the time and desire to write about it...

.....War Eagle, Jay, and keep pulling for those Tigers!

Thanks for the kind words Acid...
Your comments mean a lot... especially coming from you.  We'd all benefit from a daily article by you.  You are a human Auburn encyclopedia and a fine Auburn man.  Thanks for the support.  I'll be around.

Say it ain't so, Jay...

It's tough to hear that you'll be stepping down and handing off the responsibilities, Jay, but I completely understand. Keeping a blog fresh and full of information on a regular basis requires a lot of effort and time, which isn't always easy to come by these days. Over the last few months I've really enjoyed Track 'Em Tigers. It's the first place that I visit along with AL.com's Auburn Football page, but of course I've enjoyed your point of view here versus there since it seems to reflect the thoughts of most of us Tiger fans more. Without doubt, you'll definitely be missed, but best wishes on the future wherever it may take you.

As for the continuation of this blog, I would not mind pitching in from time to time to make sure this blog stays alive. One issue may be the fact that I now call Nashville home and therefore do not get the chance to be as close to the action as those in Alabama. However, I agree with Acid Reign that having someone located in Auburn would be the best option for all of us. And I also agree with Jay that Acid Reign himself could make a great contribution to the blog due to all of his AU football knowledge.

Tiger fans, lets find someone to keep this great site that Jay built alive and kicking. Jay, let me know if there is anything I can do to help during this transition. Best wishes again and War Eagle!

jay,

hate to hear that you have to give it up, but it makes complete sense. I can easily how time-consuming stuff like this can be. as a current auburn student and long time auburn fan, I can say that your blog often gets me info faster than i can hear it around campus, which is awesome. I have found this to be one of the best Auburn blogs on the web. I hope you continue on with your passion for everything Auburn and wish you the best -- hope to see you around on the comments from time to time even after you give it up -- War Damn Eagle my friend, and thanks for all the time you have put into this thing!

Auditions?

For those of you that don't already know, what Jay does, although a labor of love, is almost like a part-time job with all the time he puts into it.

I've enjoyed your site, Jay. I've only enough time for one homer site, and yours is it. I understand that you're not going away entirely, but just can't devote but a fraction of the time to it for the forseeable future.

I don't want to see this site go away.  Perhaps it's possibile to assemble a coalition of the willing that might be interested in compiling a loose assortment of guest or occasional authors. I don't know if you have ever seen EDSBS.com, but they have a cadre of guys who post fact based and opinion based articles and it seems to work out well.

I certainly wouldn't mind considering being part of a system like that. I know that I couldn't come close to immersing myself completely like Jay has done, but what about a little help from my friends? Perhaps a few of us should discuss it further.

Some of us post enough on here that it would constitute a thread or two a week.

I'll take the inititive.  If you are interested, send me an email:  glg68@aol.com

It's a sad day

,,,but we all understand about life getting in the way of the things we love to do.

I have enjoyed your blog and I think it is the best.

You will be missed.

Thanks for the kind comments....

I really appreciate the kind words.  It has been a blast. I can't thank you enough for what you've said.

"A coalition of the willing" would work as some have suggested. We need someone who will be the organizer and ultimately responsible for the site. Having four or five people would be ideal.  I could still contribute maybe once a week, but we need a head person.

If you are interested shoot me an email and let's keep Track'em Tigers going.

I'm on it!

Already gotten some emails from my post above, Jay.  Of course, any coalition would still include you.  Once I have a head count, I'll let you know what we got and go from there.

It may be hard for me to go from class clown to professor, so maybe we'll find someone who's more familiar with the intricacies of blogging to take point.  I'm all up for being considered for the cadre of writers and I don't mind trying to gather the War Eagles in the meantime.

Again:  If you have an interest, email me at: glg68@aol.com

Be Back for the Fall, Jay!

I enjoy your blog, Jay...I hope work settles down soon so that you can get back to giving us that good "insider info"!  - Brian A

I've enjoyed the site, Jay

I've only been lurking around here since maybe October or November, but have enjoyed the site and its content. I've already been in touch with War Eagle Atlanta about making sure the site keeps going, and want you to know I'll help in any way that I can. Good luck in your work and life, and War Eagle.

Jay.....

I really appreciate the work and time you have put forth to give us this forum. You have handled it professionally and proficiently and I hope that you can return at some point. I hope someone can fill the void adequately. War Eagle Atlanta and Acid Reign both have excellent knowledge and writing skills and certainly get my vote. Good luck and I'm sure you will still be contributing in some manner if only to give us your insight through comments.

Thanks Jay

I haven't been on Trackem Tigers for long, but long enough to know you'll be hard to replace. I just wanted to say thanks. I enjoy hearing what everyone has to say, but I always looked forward to your main posts. You kept me up to date during a lot of Auburn crisis' and unlike a lot of the other blogs the things you wrote were always as accurate as possible. If you weren't positive about some things you reported you made it known that we should take it with a grain of salt. You also kept the tone of the site positive and never got down to name calling (which makes you a better man than me). Thanks again Jay and good luck with the family.
