No. 2 Auburn Men’s Golf Team Picked to Win the Southeastern Conference.

Golfweek.com, announced Tuesday that the Tigers were picked to finish No.1 in the SEC ahead of two other top-10 teams in No. 6 Arkansas and No. 8 Alabama.
The Tigers have been rated as having the hardest schedule in the country with a Sagarin rating of 71.19, and are ranked second in the nation behind No. 1 Texas.

All-American Fullback Transferring to Auburn

Jay Prosch has transferred to Auburn from Illinois. Prosch, who was an all-state prep player at UMS-Wright in Mobile, was named first-team All-American by Pro Football Weekly and won academic All-Big Ten honors. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

He is transferring to be near his mother in Mobile who has brain cancer.

Patrick Miller Flips Commitment to Auburn- Enrolls Early.

Miller is a four star tackle from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He enrolled today (1-12-11) in Auburn. The 6-foot-7, 260-pound tackle had been an LSU commitment.

He is Auburn’s 16th commit for 2012 and the fourth player of Auburn's 2012 class to enroll for the spring quarter.

Hasina Muhammad Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Auburn’s Muhammad has been named the Southeastern Conference Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week.

The honor is her first and the Auburn Women's first such honor since Cassie Moore was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 3, 2008.

Muhammad, a native of Memphis, Tenn., earned the honor after her performance last week at the New York Life Holiday Tournament. She averaged 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds to help the Tigers to a third-place tournament finish.

Javiere Mitchell Commits To Auburn...

He is one of the top high school linebackers in Alabama. Mitchell committed to Auburn on Monday. The four star linebacker says he plans to enroll in college in January.

Number 4 on The Birmingham News' Super Seniors list, he is the 16th Auburn Commitment for the 2012 class.

If you don't have your tickets for the game this weekend you should make arrangements to get them now. The band should do some conditioning practice this week in preparation as well. Fans get ready to sing "War Eagle fly down the field..." loud and often. A blowout is brewing on the Plains this weekend and it should be fun to watch.

Cam Newton Named NFL Rookie of the Month

During the opening month of the 2011 NFL season, Cam Newton has made 70-of-117 pass attempts for 1,012 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions and he leads the Panthers in rushing with 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Cam was named today as the Rookie of the Month for September. His 854 yards in the first two Carolina games set a new NFL record for most passing yards through two career starts.

Study Says Auburn Tigers Has Largest Fan Base.

According to Nate Silver of the New York Times Auburn University has the largest fan base in college foootball. In his column, "The Geography of College Football Fans (and Realignment Chaos)" Silver states,

"Surveys find that about one-quarter of the United States population, or between 75 and 80 million people, follow college football regularly. But which teams do they align themselves with?

This question is not easy to answer, but we’re going to make an effort to resolve it, and then use the results to shine a light on college football’s increasingly complicated realignment picture.

The premise of the study is this: take the 210 television media markets in the United States, figure out how many college football fans they have, and then allocate them between the 120 current Football Bowl Subdivision programs

The Southeastern Conference named Auburn goalkeeper Chandler Hillen as the the SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday.

Hillen has posted three straight shutouts and has allowed just one goal in the last four games. She made eight saves in the upset shutout of Duke this past week and is a major reason the Tigers have started the season 4-1-0.
