2008 Auburn Defense: Best of Tuberville Era?
by BravinSeattle
Tue Dec 25, 2007 at 06:06:08 PM EDT
There have been some stellar defense fielded by Auburn and especially under Tuberville but next year's unit has the potential to be not only the best of the Tuberville era but on paper it could be the best we've seen in quite sometime.
More on the flip.

Does anyone have the story on this Chris Todd guy that just signed with us yesterday?

Good God! Coaching rumors. Coaches leaving. Coaches staying. And every flipping Auburn blog I know is either on vacation or dealing with real life, whatever that is. This is madness, madness I say!
Okay.
Good luck Al Borges. You will always be well thought of in Auburn.
Will Muschamp. Hope you're staying.
Tony Franklin. I hope you're coming to town, much like Santa, and bringing the spread as a big ol' exciting present.
Bama sucks.
There, that should cover things. For now.
Borges is Gone. Discuss Amongst Yourselves...

Al Borges has left the team (READ: asked to leave the team) Since Jay is Christmas shopping, I guess we have to do this ourselves. Who ever said that Auburn folk couldn't take the initiative?
I think it's pretty sad, but then again, so is having the 101st ranked offense in the country. Auburn has always been known for our defense, but it's certainly nice to have some offense.
See ya, Al. Thanks for 2004, and good luck.
Tubs says he'll have a new OC before the bowl game. Do we call Pat Nix down in Coral Gables to come home? Pat was looking like he was on the move when he was at Georgia Tech, but his first year at Miami apparently didn't produce a whole lot. I think he'd be on the list of phone calls to be made, though...
The Riverboat Gambler's Ultimate Gamble?
by BravinSeattle
Sat Dec 01, 2007 at 12:27:42 AM EDT
Well its become increasingly clear that nothing is certain with our coaching situation even with what would seem to be a massive deterrent for any team thinking of luring Coach Tuberville away to their - a non-negotiable iron-clad $ 6 million dollar.
Working against us are a couple of factors. The first being a perennial top 5 team in LSU with an alumni and fan base that will accept nothing more than remaining an elite team.
The other is a team like Arkansas that is desperate in their own way as they try to not take a step backward and even bring in someone who can help that program take the next step as they are in danger of being passed by the likes of Kentucky if they misfire on their hire and bring in the equivalent to an Ed Orgeron (Great coordinator that kills the program as a head coach)the next step.
So what is Tuberville doing? If he is negotiating in good faith then why is he doing so in such a way that he is creating serious ill will towards him and Auburn nation ans possibly damaging his recruiting which then in turns hurts his short and long term chances to contend and take Auburn to next level as well.
Because this is the Riverboat Gambler's Ultimate Gamble. More after the flip.

So, my boyfriend is an LSU fan and he told me that he read, on an LSU blog, that Tommy Tubberville wants out of Auburn, not because he doesn't get along with the Pres or the AD, but because he doesn't get along with the boosters. Apparently Auburn has one of the biggest boosters in football, Bobby Lowder, and he wants Patrino. Rumor is that Tubberville wants to go to Arkansas and Auburn will let him go without the big buy out because it's a done deal that we're getting Patrino. Also, back in 2003 it was Lowder who wanted Tubbs gone and flew his own private jet for the Pres and AD to meet with Patrino. I don't believe all of this is true, but what do I know? I don't like it at all that we would to that to Tubberville. So do you think there is any truth to this?

Well, I was wrong. I have no problem admitting that. It looks as if Tuberville will stay at Auburn. I am; however, still a little puzzled by the week leading up to Georgia and the day of that game. What happened? Why didn't he shout from the rooftops that he wasn't going? Oh well. Anywho, it looks like Arkansas may open up, but would Tuberville step over and down to coach the pigs? It is his home state, but I doubt it. Like I have always said, Tubs and I have a love-hate relationship. Hed makes me so proud at times and so mad others. It's almost like a parent when your a teenager. Anyways, good for Texas AM, and good for Auburn. Now, let's can Borges and get a trigger happy OC, retain Muschamp, and beat Bama in recruiting. All of these things can happen, AND all of these things will....War Eagle!
Toomer's Corner Set on Fire
by whitem12003
Mon Nov 26, 2007 at 11:23:01 AM EDT
At 3 a.m. Sunday morning, I was awoken by a text message from a friend of mine who manages the Sky Bar in Auburn. In that text was a picture of Toomer's Corner on fire. According to him, several drunk Bama fans set the trees on fire. I drove by the tree on my way out of town Sunday, and the damage doesn't appear to be too bad, but there is definately charring along the tree. It also appears that some limbs were sawed off the tree, probably ones that were burnt badly. I have not seen a single story in the media on this happening. Why is this storing not being told?!?!? I do not blame the Bama nation for the acts of a few rogue fans, but this is just unacceptable. I do have a copy of pic on my computer if anyone wants to see it.
Bowl Possibilities
by PowerOfDixieland

Now that the regular season is over, we can safely look ahead to possible bowl locales, and even recruiting and next season. I'd like to take a few minutes and look at the first of these options.
If I had to guess, there are three main bowl possibilities that we have for this year:
Outback Bowl
Cotton Bowl
Chick-fil-a (CFA) Bowl
I believe we will be selected for the CFA Bowl, and here's some reasoning:
Remove the dogs

As we celebrate another Auburn win, (Go Tigers!!) some action should be taken against the on-field security. At the end of the game, an Auburn defender was attacked by one of the dogs "held" by a security officer.
Is this really necessary? What if one of our guys (or even an opponent) rolled into that dog? I believe that our fans aren't so out of control that they need be held back by tooth and claw. Whether dogs were used prior to the national fear mongering that our current administration is festering in American society, dogs have no place under the goal post.
P.S.- That includes the University of Georgia mascot, unless we are allowed to take a real tiger to away games.
