Blacked Out And Beat Up In Athens

By Jay Coulter
jccoulter@gmail.com

Emotionless. Unprepared. There are many words to describe Auburn’s thumping by Georgia on Saturday. In the end, it was just plain embarrassing.

The Tiger’s 45-20 loss at Sanford Stadium will go down as one of the poorest efforts in Auburn football history. Not since losing by 24 points to Alabama at home in 2001 has a Tommy Tuberville coached team looked so woefully unprepared to play a big game.

In a week where the headlines were dominated by talk of Tuberville heading to College Station, it appears that Tommy spent more time on the phone with agent Jimmy Sexton than on the practice field.

Sitting behind the Auburn bench, it was apparent from the very start this team wasn’t into the game. There was zero emotion from the sidelines. It would be easy to say that Auburn was over confident. In fact, they just didn’t seem to care.

Contrast this with a Georgia team that was excited and wanted to win more than Auburn and it makes things all the more sickening.

Tuberville pretty much summed things up after the game when he said, "I thought we looked confused out there at times." That’s an understatement.

You can’t point the finger at just the offense or the defense. No, it was a team effort.

It’s apparent now that offensive coordinator Al Borges will almost certainly not be retained after this year. There have been rumors for weeks about his future.

This offense continues to struggle with the fundamentals. It’s easy to blame quarterback Brandon Cox. But that’s not the whole story. The play calling has been suspect all year.

Auburn’s receivers continue to drop passes and run bad routes. And unlike 2004, Borges has not figured out how to best utilize his talented stable of running backs. With the exception of the first half of the Florida game, this offense hasn’t played with purpose for any length of time all season.

Cox’s inconsistency continues to hurt. It’s tough on an offense when you never know which quarterback is going to show up from week-to-week. A lot of the fault lies with Borges. For someone who did such a masterful job with Jason Campbell, things just haven’t played out that way for Cox and it will likely cost Borges.

What can you say about the defense? Georgia football is to Will Muschamp what kryptonite is to Superman. This guy just can’t handle his alma mater.

Consider this: his defenses have given up 45, 37 and 45 points the last three times he’s faced the Dawgs. If you didn’t know better, you’d think he’s tanking against his school.

Most disturbing defensively was the play of the secondary. Talk about senior leadership – Eric Brock and Jonathan Wilhite looked like guys making their first college starts. They were beaten every way imaginable.

The defensive line wasn’t any better – by the fourth quarter they just cashed it in. It was hard to believe you were watching a Will Mushchamp coached team.

It’s time for Tuberville to make a decision on his future. We’ll never know what effect the Texas A&M talk had on the team. One thing we do know is that this team has issues.

Tuberville has a lot of work to do over the next two weeks. Despite the loss to Miss State, Alabama will be formidable and ready to play. A performance like yesterday will guarantee a fifth loss of the year.

Can Tuberville get his guys off the mat and ready to go on November 24th? That’s the million dollar – make that $2.35 million question.

Is it Borges or is it Tuberville?

Honestly, can you say that it is Borges that isn't doing his job or is it Tuberville playing way too conservative that won't let Borges do his job the way he wants?  There has been speculation that the two don't see eye to eye on how the offense should run.  I know defense wins games but come on, you have to open up the offense or you will never survive in the SEC.  Unfortnately, it may cost Borges but I don't think he is the problem when it comes to the offense.  I just think Tuberville likes to play it close to the vest and refuses to open things up.

As for the defense...that was a complete meltdown.  Muschamp better get his guys in gear and ready for the Iron Bowl.  This year will be a complete waste if we lose to Alabama.  That is a HUGE if.  I feel we are much better than the team that showed up yesterday.  We can make this year better by beating Alabama on November 24th.

I will be at JHS on November 24th no matter what.  Just hope we are able to leave out of there with bragging rights for another year.

A Long Night in Athens

I do agree with you. Auburn's players seemed to be out of focus and the game plan did not seem to be well prepared. Also, I did notice that Auburn's defensive backs did not cover very well and UGA took advantage.

Auburn needs to regroup and prepare for the game with Bama. If Bama wins the game it could set our recruiting back a few years. I am sure that many key recruits will be in attendance.

It is obvious that we do need an offensice makeover. Borges has lost his touch or TT is focusing more on that Texas A&M job. Of course, his stock will go down if he loses the next game.

I agree!

There you go! You summed it up for me! Auburn's performance was terrible. I don't think Tubs has much of a bargaining chip going into this off week. I wish him the best, but I have finally made my decision. I think that it's time for Auburn to explore other avenues. I have never witnessed a more deplorable offense than that of ours. I want us to score points! Not this ball control BS that I have been putting up with. We have waay too much talent to not be utilizing it! I think Tubs has done great things, but he will never take us any higher. I expect more from a team that constantly recruits well and is a big name program. I had changed my mind on Tubs until last night. Don't let the door hit you on the way out! Let's welcome Petrino with open arms!!!

my heart hurts...

Somewhere coaching has failed the auburn players.  I cannot understand how they can let Cox continue to look at the side of the field he his going to throw to as soon as he is snapped the ball.  I do not understand how they never open up the offense.  I don't think a screen constitutes that. Can we air it out some?  I don't understand how our defense always seems to be out of position and has to rely on shear athleticism. I don't understand how we never go after big time receivers.  I don’t understand why are receivers run crappy routes....for the last couple of years this has been a problem.  Look at the Ol' Ball Coaches receivers. He drills route running into their heads and makes middle of the road at best receiving cores look good. Why can't we do that?

I never liked how Tubberville came in (the whole pine box... telling his Ol' Miss players before the bowl game, etc...) That being said I do like how he seems to take boys and make them men. I love how our team has a very high graduation rate.  I don't have a lot of faith that this coaching staff, as it is, is going to get us a National Title.

And this is why I hate

being confident going into big games.  I've always had a big superstition that when I feel like we're going to win a big game, we end up losing.  Well, all leading up to yesterday's game, I thought that we had the upper hand, and that UGA wasn't focused on the game, but on the jerseys.  I have eaten a large load of crow.  Anyway, a few thoughts I had:

When did we have such a large dropoff at the skill positions?  Our O-Line and defensive front 7 are probably comparable to any in the country.  Why is our secondary so dreadful and our offense incapable of throwing the ball deep?  I'm not the best judge of talent (especially defensively) but if I had to make a pick, I'd say that Jerraud Powers is the only defensive back that is good enough for an SEC defense.  Pat Lee has been pretty decent, although an easy pick-six was dropped against MSU and another one somewhere in there.  Wilhite has been dreadful, dating back to last year when he tripped over his own feet covering Marcus Monk against Arkansas.  I see Brock as a giant "meh"...just average.  We need to get some top-notch guys in there so that we don't have a play like UGA's first touchdown pass yesterday.

I agree with some of the posters above me.  I've heard that Tuberville is holding Borges back, and Borges isn't running the offense the way he would like it.  Ball control offense doesn't work when your defense gives up 45, Tommy.  I also realized today that I think Tuberville is one of the best at taking a program from a very low point to the brink of elite status.  However, I'm not sure he's the man to get over that last bump.  Texas A&M may be a better fit for him, I dunno.  If he leaves, I can't be upset, because of all that went on in 2003, and I'll always remember 2004.  I'm just not sure he's the right guy to lead us forward from this point.

Alabama is a pass-heavy team this year, and we are a pass-coverage-sucky team this year.  I feel very uneasy about Iron Bowl 2007.  But hey, at least I'm not confident!

Well, I've often said...

.....that I'd take an 8-4 team every year, if we show class and character, and develop great young men. We're still doing that, I think. Honestly, though, I'm rapidly being convinced that we aren't going to get the strategy and motivation to win titles, here. The Borges offense was AWESOME with two NFL RBs playing unselfishly, several all-conference linemen, a towering/strong-armed future NFL QB, and a plethora of tall, speedy wide receivers. Right now, we're pretty much the worst offense in the SEC. I'm going to take the UGA defensive performance as an aberration, but the offense has mostly stunk, since the 1995 Bama game.

.....Now, are the woes because of Tub, or Borges? Recruiting? All of the above? Hard to say. That's for the insiders and the speculators to sort out. I REALLY don't like our play-calling, right now. What I might call wouldn't necessarily work any better, though. Might result in 5 or 6 touchdowns, or the same number of turnovers, a game. We need help, on offense. Whether that's new strategy, new players or new coaches, is beyond my level of ignorance.

.....In any event, we have the Iron Bowl in less than two weeks. Should we perform again, like we did in the UGA game, the naysayers will go crazy. TAMU will likely back off. Dark Lord Lowder will likely direct some Sith manipulations, and stir the poisoned cool-aid. Careers and programs have been wrecked by games like this past Saturday. Let's hope it doesn't happen here...

.....War Eagle. However it turns out, it's great to be an Auburn Tiger!

I chose to reply to yours but...

Much of what I say goes to everyone.

Basically what has been posted here as comments is exactly what I got torn apart for saying 6 weeks ago and have been saying since.  Tuberville might not ever take us to the last level.

Acid, you point at recruiting as a possible issue.  I disagree, look at our skill on offense alone.  A 5th year Senior QB, 3 fantastically talented running backs, an offensive line that has played stellar this season despite the fact that there are 3 true freshman on it, and a receiving core that should be great.

My issue is the fact that Tuberville is so loyal to Cox that he is willing to rip the chance to win from the rest of the team.  Last year Cox had 35 yards passing and 4 interceptions against UGA, we had absolutely no chance at that point.  This year, 100ish  yards with 4 more interceptions.  And people look to blame the defense?  Yes they had some breakdowns on the deep ball, but with 4 turnovers you can't beat a team that is no. 10 in the nation.  Why do you allow Cox to play when he is playing so poorly?  Why is he so damn loyal to Cox even in the darkest days for him?  Why is Tubby willing to throw away a game for the sake of leaving Cox in?  6 minutes left in the game and down by 25, why not play someone else and give them reps?

I stick by the fact that I think Tubby has his head in his ass some days.  He can play against big teams when his boy Cox shows up, but otherwise we have no chance.

I've really only been looking at this blog for about a week or two.  I'm not sure I would have blasted you six weeks ago, but I'm not sure I would have asserted what I said earlier.

Disappointed

I am a bit ashamed of what is posted above, although some, if not most of it is true. There is plenty of talk of on field issues, we were totally blacked out, but does anyone want to "blackout" what was going on in the stands as well?  I was sitting the right on the Auburn fan/UGA fan line in the lower level.  I was with mostly older (40-55 years old) fans.  The Auburn Players families were also right in front of me.  I have been to every SEC schools stadium as a fan, and this game was one of the worst I have ever seen.  Not quite as bad as LSU but close.  Grown men yelling at the players parents?  I do not get that.  Throwing footballs as hard as possible into the Auburn Section, and at the band with intent to injure?  I always thought that AU/UGA was a friendly rivalry.  What happened?  I know that AU sucked it up, but come on.  Oh well, maybe our team can show some emotion next week and win, and show more class then we were shown in Athens.

by WarDamnAtlanta on Nov 12, 2007 10:29 AM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Dissapointed is not the word......

ashamed is more like it. The lynchmob comes out of the woodwork when ever we have a bad time of it. For  everyone second guessing Tuberville and Borges get over it. Tuberville is definitely a conservative guy when it comes to offense. But offense didn't lose this game. We were never going to win a shootout. UGA's Defense did however play way above their heads. Our defense was below our expected performance. A big part of that was the linebackers, Groves may be the best Defensive End to ever play at AU (to this point anyway) but he put himself in the doghouse and gave the opportunity to Coleman to take his job by not keeping to his assignment and rushing the passer on plays he was supposed to drop into coverage. Now he's in the doghouse and Coleman has played lights out......too good to take out. But despite Groves amazing speed and atheletic ability he doesnt know the SAM linebacker position well enough and UGA did a fantastic job of taking advantage oh it. No way Knoshon Moreno gets those yards and big runs had Groves been in position. UGA ran the ball behind the tackle straight at him over and over. Don't get me wrong thats not the only reason we lost but its a big one. You also have to give credit where credit is due....Richt had done a marvelous job getting a bunch of young guys motivated.

As far as the statements about Tuberville "not taking us to the next level"......where in the hell do you think we were in 2004 and why do you think we are mentioned every year as a contender? People we are at the next level.  The nation saw how flawed the BCS was after OU was trounced and AU was left out. UF benefitted last year from our slight. And how many of you said after the Mississippi State game that you would be happy with 8-4? If nothing else look at the number of freshman that have been in the rotation and look at what that says about the future. We will not ever have a coach that will win every game every year (much less one that will win every game we are supposed to win) but right now we have a coach that will keep us in the hunt every year in a conference that is equaled by none. War Damn Eagle Lets Beat Hell Outta Bama.

We are at the next level? Umm..

I said that I don't think that Tuberville could take us to the next level and I stick by it, both in the fact that I don't believe we are there and that I don't think he can get us there.

If you think that being pre-season ranked at #17 to 20 year in and year out is being considered a contender I would have to disagree.  I would consider the next level on the caliber or national respect that an Oklahoma, Texas, USC for the past few years, or a Michigan gets.  They might go 8-5 one year and the next season people have enough respect to still put them back toward the top.  Top recruits want to go to those schools.  Would you really say that top players consider going to Auburn?  Who was the last blue chip recruit that Auburn got that wasn't out of Mississippi, Florida, Alabama or Georgia?  Now don't get me wrong, I think our recruiting has been fantastic for the past 5 years, but I am talking about having a respect with our name that people want to go to.

Other posters have said that dropped passes, poor throws, bad blocking and poor tackling isn't coaching error, it is the error of the player.  Your wrong if you think it.  Has anyone noticed that our 5th year QB is the worst QB in the conference?  He has poor fundamentals across the board.  From the way he can't recognize coverage to the way he drops back with his throwing arm forward half the time, all this goes back to coaching.  We have a Jr backup that plays well almost every time he takes a snap, but yet he is limited to a dozen or so the past two years, why?  We have a highly recruited freshman that people claim just doesn't know enough plays to get snaps.  A 18 year old kid playing under a system for 6 months should know damn near an entire play book if coached properly.  The fact that our defense tries to do jumping shoulders blocks instead the boring, old-fashioned wrap up the ball carrier leads to poor coaching.  Make no mistake, almost every woe our Auburn team has seen this year comes back to poor fundamentals and lack of coaching.

I will say this.  Saban is smart enough to watch some game film and learn enough about how to shut down our offense.  Unless a miracle happens and Cox  plays out of his ass, we might lose by 21 come the Iron Bowl.

by Mattco on Nov 13, 2007 12:26 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The Todd

Totally disagree with you. Saban has done more with so much less. Unless, you are content with 8-4 every year, I say do something about it. The offense DID lose that game. Auburn's offense is ranked 99th in the country out of 119. Tell me that isn't the problem! What team have you been watching all year!

Cut them some slack!!!

Let’s all relax a little bit, slow down and not let one game’s emotions cloud the whole season.  To that point let’s think about what has happened this season.  But before that though let me state that I am in no way making excuses or ignoring what happened Saturday.  I too am extremely disappointed and appalled.  To my point about the whole season:

First and foremost we are a young team led by an inconsistent QB.  Our offensive line contains three freshmen, of which one has been injured since the AR game and only played a portion of this game.  Our receivers are juniors and sophomores, our tail backs are a junior, sophomore and red shirt freshman.  I know we have a fifth (rather sixth) year QB but lets face it what has he done in the last three years.  True he has beat UF and UA the last two years and UGA in ’05 (on a 4th and long-15, if memory serves, conversion) but outside of that nothing.  And while I admit that I could not do any better (truth be known I wouldn’t start on the local HS JV team) he is not consistent; you never know who is going to show up.  The Cox that led Auburn back against UGA in ’05 or UF and LSU (before getting beat at the end) this year, or the Cox that threw four interceptions to UGA last year, two interceptions against USF, two interceptions against MSU (after which he was pulled), and four more interceptions to UGA this year (although one wasn’t entirely his fault as it bounced off of our receiver’s (Billings - I think) chest).  Or the Cox that missed a wide open Billings or McKenzie in the end zone on Saturday for an easy six because he didn’t look left to the middle and left side of the field on the opening drive.  You see my point - inconsistent.  True poor route running has been the cause for some of the interceptions but at the same point a sixth year senior should know when to hold the ball or throw it away.  That is not the fault of coaches; they do not throw the ball.  The fault of the coaches is not developing a replacement more quickly- Fields and Burns are still too green to be leading the reins of a top SEC team.
As far as the defense goes, cut them some slack.  Yes they did not play well in the first half and unraveled (to say the least) at the end of the third quarter but for crying out loud they have played 11 straight games and for the most part have had to play at 110% every down because of our young offense and inconsistent QB.  I challenge anybody to play and practice at an SEC level 11 weeks in a row. Oh yeah and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours at top University.  As Tuberville was concerned about before the game, the defense was flat worn out by the end of the third quarter!!!  And they have every right to be!!!  I will elaborate more of this later.   But as far as performance, our front seven held their own on the line.  The weakness came in the secondary.  While there is a lot of room for improvement (as there always seems to be with our secondary) let’s keep in mind that this is the same secondary that held Tebow to 201 yards in the air at the Swamp.  The only team to hold him to less was LSU at Death Valley at 158.  Otherwise Tebow has thrown for more than 230 yards in every other game.  The same secondary that only allows for 185 yards a game, has intercepted 13 passes and allowed fewer TDs with 11 (including Saturday’s debacle).  The only other teams to pass for more than two TDs on us in a game were LSU and New Mexico State.  And for more than 200 yards in a game were LSU, UF, New Mexico State, and KSU.  So in short not to make excuses but let’s cut them some slack they too are human will have a bad game.

My second point is with regards to bad games, let’s keep in mind that NO Tuberville coached Auburn team has allowed 45 points.  That is impressive and OBVIOUSLY the 45 PA is isolated considering this is his ninth year at AU.  Everyone has bad days.  I know it is not football but to draw a slimily to golf, Tiger Woods shot an 81 in the third round of the 2002 British Open after winning the Masters and US Open earlier that year.  My point is, even the best in the world will have a bad day from time to time.  For that matter look at College Football this year; other than Kansas (who in my opinion hasn’t played anyone) what team has not had just a flat out bad game this year?  To elaborate, we beat UF and VU, UF lost to LSU, LSU lost UK, UF blew out UK, S Car and UT, S Car beat UGA, UGA barely beat UA and VU and blew out UF, UA blew out UT, UT barely beat S Car but blew out Ark and Ark barely lost to UA.  I could go on but you get my point and that is only the SEC.  A quick further elaboration is we barely beat KSU, who had 73 hung on them by a horrible Nebraska this past Saturday.  And last but not least we lost to MSU and barely lost to USF, USF blew the doors off WVU, WVU blew the doors off MSU, MSU beat UK and UA.  I could go on and on about the other BCS conferences but again, you get my point everybody has had a bad game at one or more points this season.

With regards to the schedule, while Tuberville does have some say, Jay Jacobs has the most control over scheduling.  He needs to do a better job of scheduling than scheduling 11 in a row.  To that point I feel bad for the players and the coaches.  Again that is a long time to have to be going 110% without a break.  Keep in mind too that the team, players and coaches, travel home immediately following the game, which when you play a night game (which we have done a lot this year and why? because we have played well and tough more often than not and simply had a bad game Saturday) doesn’t allow you to get home until the early hours of the morning only to turn around and have practice on Sunday afternoon.  And after doing that for 11 straight weeks anyone would be tired.  Don’t get me wrong I am not bashing Jacobs or using him as an excuse rather my point is that this is not just a Tuberville problem, or a Cox problem or a Borges problem or a Muschamp problem.  This is an Auburn Football in whole problem.

With regards to the Borges-Tuberville issue, I too have heard the rumors.  Let’s all be realistic, rumors are what? Rumors!!!  Unless we are right beside Tuberville or Borges every single second none of us know the true extent (good or bad) of their relationship.  I agree that I would like to have seen the ’04 Borges more and open it up and spread it out a little more this year.  Who knows, Tuberville is conservative and maybe he is the reason for the conservative play calling but also look at the offense.  We all agree that our receivers leave some to be desired.  But they are young so let’s wait until they are at least juniors and seniors until we bash them because until the UF game the only reliable WR was the junior, Smith.  And any defensive coordinator could see that and put his best CB on him.  And when that happened our passing game was even more limited because of Cox’s inconsistency and the young o-line.  So with a young receiving core and o-line, and an inconsistent QB it is tough to have the confidence to open it up.  We all know what happens when we turn the ball over.  So to Tuberville and Borges’ defense we had to play more conservative to give our selves the best chance at the W.

Last but not least, WE DO NOT want Tuberville, Borges or Muschamp to leave within the next two to three years.  We have unbelievable group of athletes coming along.  Think about it, if the guys are playing this well in their freshman, sophomore and junior years just imagine what is coming when they are sophomores, juniors and seniors.  And with Burns being the new breed in a dual threat QB, you don’t think that Borges has an entire offense waiting for such a scenario that nobody has seen.  We need Borges for Burns.  Furthermore unless the administration (rather Lowder) fires Tuberville or insults him with an extension he is not going anywhere.  It took Tuberville 5+ years to build us to what we are now.  TAMU is in absolute disarray; worse than we were when Tubby took over.  It would take him at least 6 or 7 years to clean up TAMU.  He is 53 years old, he doesn’t want to waste the next 6-7 years (if TAMU even would give him that long) to get back to where he is today.  And while I admit he would probably go for the right price it would take a Saban+ contract to get him there because his current contract has an annual escalator of $200,000 by the time it is up he will be in the neighborhood of 3.5 million a year.  He doesn’t need or want the money, he wants a national championship and he knows that he is close to having the team that will get him it.  Furthermore his kids are in the height of their grade and middle school years and are happy.  He doesn’t want to take them away from that.  Now will he use this to get an extension?  Absolutely, who wouldn’t?  Keep in mind his agent is Jimmy Sexton who is also Nick Saban’s agent.  He is kind of the college football version of Scott Boras (A-Rod’s agent).  But more than that Tuberville knows he is loved by the true Auburn fan as seen in the boxes of supportive emails following the 2003 debacle of a season and jetgate.  Jetgate has longed since passed his memory as the emails came pouring in.  He knows that jetgate gave the University a BIG black eye and that when all was said and done he was the knight in shining armor.  And his record since has even added an exclamation to that!!!  So, when you combine his record, the team’s graduation rate and the gentleman of men that he creates as you never hear an Auburn players name mentioned in the media outside of football as well as the fact that players don’t bolt to the NFL early (Williams, Brown, McNeil, Groves, Thomas, Dansby) the University would do a serious injustice to the football and athletics program as well as to the school let him get away.  Besides was anyone else appalled at UGA’s players’ attitude and demeanor during the game and the last couple dating back to the UF game?  While they are always borderline obnoxious, they were beyond obnoxious this game and have been since their UF game.  Is that what we want to become?

Wait! What?

You wrote way too much, but let me sum it up for everyone. You are trying to justify why we have the 99th ranked offense, you are making excuses for a coach who can never seal the deal, and you basically wrote too much. Now, I apologize for the sarcasm, but let's think about this. Should we be okay with never taking that next step? Should we be okay with a terrible offense? All of this, "They did their best, and thats all that matters" is pure shit! I am sorry! Vanderbilt is Feelgood U. Not Auburn! For what we have accomplished in recruiting, and for the coaches we have, we should be winning all of our games. We have underachieved for too long! My God is everyone living in a dreamworld??

This season I have been watching a team that.....

only does as good as its offensive line and subsequently its running game, which for those of you not paying attention has been up and down all season long....but then again there are 3 freshman playing on the O-line and they have looked very good at times and at other times they have looked like freshman. And what do you expect Tubby to do other than go undefeated to win a national champioinship? Get on his knees blow every AP voter? And be happy with a team that goes 8-4 every year? So how does one year equate to every year? I'm not so sure that Borges is on the hotseat either. We will see. So remind me again what team should I have been watching? I hope to god that we beat the hell out of bama so all the doomsday squad will go back into the woodwork.

and as a side note.......

Saban has done about what shula would have done this year with the same team. Not saying bama wont be much better off with Saban down the road, just that those kids would've performed under Shula's game plan alot easier this year...his recruits for his system.....than with a new system with new coaches with a new vocabulary. Which by the way is called transition which is never good. Tubby has a clean program that is competing for championships consistantly Have you no ability to see how good AU's record has been? Does one year warrant the boot? No not now not ever.

Tubs has led Aurburn to a clean winning program.  The record speaks for itself.  I also know that a leader is only as good as his team.  If Borges is the problem, Tubs will get rid of him at the end of the season.  Coach Tubs has done it before.

Let's look at this from a player standpoint.  Has our receiving corp shown that they can catch the ball?  Montez Billings and Rod Smith are the only two that have shown any consistency.  Personnally, I wouldn't throw the ball to Tommy Trott either.  It appears to me that he couldn't catch a cold.  Gabe McKenzie appears to be the only tightend that has caught the ball.  If our receivers can't catch the ball, why would we throw it to them?  I definitely would throw to Carl Stewart and Mario Fannin.  Our running game has been the only bright spot.

Let's just hope we can get some of these things fixed good enough so we don't get embrassed by a mediocre bammer team.

I support Coach Tubs as long as he is at Auburn, not because of what might happen, but because of what has happened, IN OTHER WORDS, he has proven he is a winner.  He is a great leader and I believe he will right the sinking ship.

Well said.....

the only thing I dont agree on is that I dont think the "ship is sinking". Just alot of youth that will pay big dividends in the near future.
