Georgia Letter-Reprisal

Wed Nov 14, 2007 at 08:06:47 AM EDT

Good morning Auburn Nation! I would like to take the opportunity to set the record straight on my previous letter. I haven't been present at Auburn-Georgia games here in recent history, so I do not have prior knowledge of any wrong doing by Auburn players, coaches, or fans. I apologize if my words seemed insensitive to Georgia people, but the fact of the matter is what I saw from Georgia was Circus Theatrics. Whether you agree with me or not is up to you, but a wise man once wrote that "Perception is reality". If I perceived wrong doing and an over-abundance of WWE type trickery, then that is in fact a reality for me as an Auburn fan. Did I imagine the touchdown celebration against Florida? The shooting birds and inappropriate gestures at the Crimson Tide student section? Or what happened Saturday? NO! I have said nothing out of line. Mark Richt needs to get a hold of that team and teach them the honorable way to win. Thats what I am saying and thats what I will stand by!

War Eagle!

Does my number of previous comments qualify me for cult status?

This is the first I've ever heard of a "shooting birds and inappropriate gestures at the Crimson Tide student section" incident.  Is there a story about that somewhere?  Is that the alleged excuse for Tide fans throwing trash onto Georgia's players?

      • Rebuttal (none / 0)

A friend of mine was at the game, and that is what I heard! You honestly believe that fans like Bamas just all of a sudden started throwing trash? They were provoked by obscene gestures and other things. It happens all of the time. Get you head out your rectum and maybe you'll see.

Thanks for the cite to a reliable source.

Thanks for suggesting I have my head in my rectum.  You're doing a great job of demonstrating what Auburn "class" is all about.

One last time, I'll express my regret that anyone had a bad experience in Athens, and I invite you to have the last whine.

from one of your own at http://joecribbscarwash.blogspot.com...

"--I wholeheartedly agree with Senator Blutarsky when he says any Auburn fans who soiled their knickers or let their monocle slip and cried "Well, I never!" when confronted with those wretchedly uncouth dance-like maneuvers along the Dawg sideline need to lighten the hell up. The way to make Georgia regret pulling a black-jersey gimmick or a celebratory jig on the sideline is to beat their ass for it on the field, not to whine about it between bites of cucumber sandwich after the fact, particularly when our own team has broken out the victory cigars on an opponent's field in the not-so-distant past. Orson's right: strangely enough, it's only those on the wrong end of the scoreboard complaining about about their opponent's 'class.'"

Any sensitive AU fan is free to skip future trips to Athens.  There are plenty of Auburn fans who'd be elated to be a part of the excitement in his or her place.

  • Cigars (none / 0)

The cigar incident happened in 1999 and wasn't involving Georgia. It's like arguing with a brick wall. I tell you what, I am free to criticize Georgia's performance on MY TEAMS BLOG SITE. Go back to yours and write about me there. Class is something Georgia fans should strongly consider showing. Thanks

    • Dang. (none / 0)

I was going to leave it alone, but then you said such ridiculous things.  But I promise, this is it for me.  I didn't intend to get into any kind of flame incident with anyone.  I just wanted to offer some things to consider.  I never expected ArieGold or anyone else to change their minds suddenly about their experience.

I didn't make any reference to the cigar incident.  An Auburn blogger did.  I don't care either way.

Yes, you are free to criticize Georgia's performance on YOUR TEAM'S BLOG SITE, but when you entitle your posts as an "Open Letter to Georgia Fans" and "Georgia Letter - Reprise" don't you think it's a little silly to try to chase a Georgia fan (to whom your posts are directed) off the site for responding?  Perhaps you should have called your post "I'm going to complain bitterly and don't want anyone to challenge me" instead of addressing it to me.

I'm comfortable with my understanding of "class".  I'm comfortable that Auburn fans more reasonable than you have a better understanding of "class" than you do.  It's telling that you seem to think that throwing trash at football players on the field is defensible by anything.  I understand where you're coming from now.

I hope to make it to the Plains for the game next year, and I look forward to socializing with Auburn fans when the opportunity arises as I did in Athens.  In spite of my horrible experiences at Auburn in the past, I've never let them get in the way of the good time I know I can have there.

I apologize to everyone if I've shown my a** here.  It's just a game, but it's a big rivalry, I love the Dogs and Athens, and sometimes emotions get the better of me.  The toilet paper thing notwithstanding, y'all have some great traditions, and our schools have great histories together.  I don't want to risk giving anyone a worse impression than they may already have, so I'll bow out as gracefully as one can under these circumstances and wish you luck for the remainder of the year.

  • Just know ArieGold... (none / 0)

...that you have embarassed yourself so thoroughly on this website that it is a shame that you are still a subscriber to this great community here.  You have shamed the entire Auburn fan base not because of your opnion, but rather the way in which you go about making your arguments. You are disrespectful, rude, and have to resort to shallow insults to make many of your points.  Just as in every free society, you are free to disagree with any of us, on our blog site, your blog site, or through any other medium. However, until you learn to address people with a level of respect that each one of us deserves, I suggest that you stop posting because you will only lose what little credibility you have left after achieving this 'cult status'  embarassment.  Hope you have a better time in Athens two years from now.

  • ??? (none / 0)

How did I embarass myself exactly? I didn't make any harsh claims? I told a guy to pull his head out of his rectum(should have just gone on and said ass) because he is missing the point. I made no outrageous comment. I told the truth as I have witnessed it. I made nothing up, and to clarify, made no racist comment. You should know who you're insulting before you do so. All I said was that it was a shame, and it IS a SHAME that Georgia looked more like the University of Miami from the early 90's than like a worthy, respectful opponent. That is the truth whether you like it or not! That is the reality that UGA fans will have to deal with. They are no longer the class of the SEC. They've exhibited none and deserve no praise. Oh! And, it's sad when some Auburn fans had a better time in Red Stick than in Athens.....Makes you think, huh?
